In 2001, Leila earned her auctioneer’s license, taking the podium for the majority of Sotheby’s Collectibles live auctions.
After leaving Sotheby’s in 2008, Leila served as regular auctioneer for Augusta Couture auctions twice-yearly New York sales, highlights include selling a 1930’s Zoot Suit for a record $70,000; and has also auctioned for Bertoia Toy Auctions.
From 2011- 2013 Leila auctioned for Julien’s Auctions, selling the $5 million Estate Of legendary guitarist and innovator Les Paul and the Estate of Tony Curtis, including his jacket from “Some Like It Hot.”
In July 2014 she served as auctioneer for Goldin Auctions in their inaugural live sale, grossing $3.6 million, including a record $1 million for a 1918 Babe Ruth Contract.
Leila has also served as benefit auctioneer for a number of non-profit organizations and has raised approximately $4 million, particularly for sports, music, women’s, children’s and literacy causes, including the Barbara Bush Children’s Cancer Center, the Women’s Sports Foundation, the Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation, Jazz House For Kids, Musicians On Call, the Suite Dreams Project, the Jimmy V Foundation, Developments In Literacy, Dress For Success, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Cause for Darfur, the Laureus Sports Foundation, the USTA Foundation, the Foundation For Appraisal Education, the FBI Scholarship Fund, Washington Performing Arts and Young Concert Artists.
From 2001-2013 Leila served as benefit auctioneer and lectured on sports memorabilia at the annual Sports Leadership Conference held at the Broadmoor resort in Colorado.
From 2005-2011, Leila served as auctioneer and board member of Musicians On Call; a New York based nonprofit organization formed in 1999, which brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities. Musicians On Call uses music to promote and complement the healing process for patients, families and caregivers.
